Disambiguating Acronyms and Defining The BCSports Vocabulary
Atleta leverages many cutting edge technologies that can be challenging for non-technical participants to grasp. Moreover, Atleta has introduced a series of unique terminology to capture express some of the more complex concepts as succinctly as possible. Below we have defined them:
Technical
NPoS - Nominated Proof-of-Stake
NPoS or Nominated Proof of Stake is a highly democratic model for achieving consensus in distributed environments among entities that may not know each other. NPoS enforces maximal equality for validator election, by boosting incentives for lesser capitalized validators and disincentives election of heavily over-capitalized ones.
XCM - Cross Consensus Messaging
XCM or Cross Consensus Messaging is a generalized, platform agnostic framework for transferring information between compatible and non-compatible networks. Originally developed by the Web3 Foundation, XCM has become a cornerstone for building interchain applications within Substrate.
Parachain
Parachain is a portmanteaus (mixture) of Parallelized and Chain.
Independent networks/chains that run in side-by-side with ATLETA. These networks/chains can have its own tokens, governance frameworks, and consensus mechanisms, but anchor to ATLETA and use its validator set for their security.
BCSports
IAO - Initial Athlete Offerings
A modified version of IPO, IDO, ICO, IEO, etc., IAOâs or Initial Athlete Offerings are a model for crowdfunding and issuing digital assets representative of an Athlete. Athletes are the kernel that generates all the biological performance data; they are the colloquial âsuperherosâ that inspire generations and push humanity to challenge preconceived material notions of physics.
ACM - Athletic Capital Markets
The benchmark for establishing the economic well-being of the sports industry. The aggregate behavioral output of all tokenized asset activity that serves as a benchmark for establishing the economic well-being of the sports industry.
Just as in legacy economic models, assets are brought to market individually and then once aggregated become a barometer/index representative of an economies well-being; athletes are the equivalent of those individual components within a biological setting.
DSO - Decentralized Sports Organizations
Focused adaptation of DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) for the department of Human Performance (sport). DSOs, or Decentralized Sports Organizations, are vehicles for social coordination that can be composed vertically and horizontally. Verticle DSOs would be examples of media companies with regular sports fans as their reporters or guilds of athletes that are equally owned by supporters/fans. Horizontal DSOs would be standard generic groups of token holders who aggregate among themselves to build fantasy teams, athletes with digitally native guilds exclusively for other athletes, or legacy sports organizations that tokenize themselves.
SportFi
The umbrella term used to refer to the pseudo-financialized ecosystem that becomes possible due to the establishment of biologically-rooted economic primitives.
At the core of bridging the gap between the atomic and the binary worlds is tokenization.
